Capricious LLC ("we", "our", "us") operates the Domestique mobile application. This policy describes how we collect, use, and share your information when you use Domestique.
Account information. When you create an account, we collect your email address. You may also provide a display name and country.
Activity and training data. We collect data about your rides and workouts, including power, heart rate, cadence, speed, recorded GPS tracks, and the structured workouts and training plans you use.
Location data. We use your location to provide real-time presence and safety features while you ride. See the dedicated Location data section below for how this is handled.
Health and fitness data. With your permission, we read and write data through your device's health platform (such as Apple Health or Google Health Connect). See Health and fitness data below.
Data from connected services. If you connect a third-party service, we receive the activity and profile data you authorize that service to share with us.
Subscription data. If you subscribe to Domestique Premium, we receive transaction information from the platform's app store (e.g. Apple App Store, Google Play). We do not collect or store your payment card details.
Device and usage data. We automatically collect device information (device type, operating system, app version), usage metrics (session duration, feature usage, daily and monthly activity), and crash reports.
Voice chat. Voice chat during group rides is peer-to-peer and is not recorded or stored by us.
Domestique uses your location to provide real-time presence features while you ride. We have designed these features to retain as little location data as possible.
We do not intentionally log or store live location. Limited location information may occasionally be captured incidentally in diagnostic, error, or crash-report data — including data generated by third-party components we use to keep the service reliable and secure. We do not use such incidental data to track your movements or for advertising, and we retain it only as long as needed for diagnostic purposes.
We do not sell your location data, and we do not share it with advertisers or any other third party for advertising or marketing purposes.
With your permission, Domestique reads and writes health and fitness data through your device's health platform, such as Apple Health or Google Health Connect (for example, workouts, heart rate, and related metrics). We use this data solely to provide and improve the app's training and analytics features. We do not use health data for advertising, and we do not share it with third parties for advertising or marketing purposes. You can revoke this access at any time in your device's health-platform settings.
We may use data we collect to develop and improve models that personalize your training and cycling experience. We train our models on data we own and on data imported from third-party providers where that provider's terms permit such use. Where a provider restricts the use of its data to train, fine-tune, or otherwise develop machine-learning models, we honor those restrictions and do not use its data for those purposes.
Domestique displays advertisements to users who are not subscribed to Premium. These advertisements are provided by third-party ad networks, which may collect device identifiers and usage data to serve personalized ads. We do not share your location or health data with advertising partners. Advertising networks may, however, independently infer approximate location from your device's IP address or network connection, as they do across most apps and websites; that inference is performed by those networks and is not based on the precise location data Domestique collects. You can opt out of personalized advertising in your device settings or by declining the tracking prompt when available. If you opt out, you will still see ads, but they will not be personalized.
We do not sell your personal information. We share information with the following categories of third parties:
We may share anonymized or aggregated data that cannot identify you individually.
We require valid legal process before disclosing your information. We will not voluntarily disclose your location data — including in response to a missing-person inquiry from family members — absent a lawful subpoena, court order, or warrant, even in circumstances where applicable law would permit voluntary disclosure. Because live location is not retained, as described above, in most cases we hold no location data to disclose.
We retain your account, activity, and training data for as long as your account is active. Live location is not retained beyond the brief, transient window needed to provide presence features, and the opt-in last-known trace is retained only while you have a Safety Contact enabled and only for the rolling window you choose. Data we obtained from a connected service is deleted when you disconnect that service. If you delete your account, we will delete your personal data within 30 days.
Depending on your location, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or export your personal data. To exercise these rights, contact us at [email protected].
Domestique is not intended for children under 13 years of age in the United States or under 16 years of age in the European Union. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under these ages. If we learn that we have collected information from a child under the applicable age, we will delete it promptly.
Domestique is a mobile application and does not use browser cookies. On platforms that support it, we will request your permission before tracking your activity across other companies' apps and websites for advertising purposes.
Your information is processed and stored in the United States. By using Domestique, you understand that your data will be transferred to and processed in the United States, which may have data-protection laws different from those of your country. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards, such as Standard Contractual Clauses, for international transfers of personal data.
We may update this policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes through the app or by email. Continued use of Domestique after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
